QASIM WADUD

Mr. Wadud is one of the co-founders of Legal Oracles and works out of its Islamabad Office. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Government College Lahore and LLB (Hons) degree from University of London, UK. He is a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He has a rich international experience and worked in Dubai, Riyadh and Kabul. Mr. Wadud is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Mr. Wadud has served as the Additional Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Additional Attorney General of Pakistan for approximately five years representing the provincial government and the federal government before the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan and Islamabad High Court respectively. Mr. Wadud has assisted the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan and Islamabad High Court on a vast array of matters involving complex questions of law during his tenure. Mr. Wadud has over 1000 decided cases to his credentials.

Mr. Wadud has also remained a member of the committee formed by the Federal Government for undertaking negotiations with 47 Independent Power Projects (IPPs) resulting in a direct relief of PKR 850 Billion and an indirect relief of PKR 11,000 Billion. The committee was mandated to negotiate with IPPs on the heat rate test, sharing of fuel saving, reduction of currency indexation for local investors, lengthening debt term, reduction of operation and maintenance costs and return on equity. Being a vital member of the Committee and having the requisite expertise, Mr. Wadud has remained in close coordination with the Power Division, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, Central Power Purchasing Agency, National Transmission and Dispatch Company, Power Holding Limited, Private Power and Infrastructure Board and Alternate Energy Development Board. Mr. Wadud was also member of the Implementation Committee, formed by the Federal Government to implement the matters concluded by its predecessor the Negotiation Committee with the IPPs.

Mr. Wadud’s areas of expertise are Corporate and Regulatory legal matters with special emphasis on Project Finance & Corporate Finance, Banking, Energy and Power, Privatization, Mergers and Acquisitions, Telecommunication laws, Competition Laws, Tax Laws, and Litigation.
